Earls Court Motor Show Russell Hayes (www.thehistorypress.co.uk) Price: £25 Rating: ★★★★★

PERHAPS the country’s most famous car exhibition, the Earls Court Motor Show dates back a lot further than you might think, and this brilliant book charts it from the very beginning. It’s interesting, well written and gives a great picture on how motor shows used to be in the Golden Age. One of the best books we’ve read all year.

Rover P4 Malcolm Bobbitt (Veloce, www.veloce.co.uk) Price: £27.50 Rating: ★★★

A TRUE British icon? You could argue that the Rover P4 is exactly that, and it’s certainly a bit of a forgotten gem in the classic car market. This book goes into detail on every bit of the car. We like the large section on ‘living with’ a P4, but just wish author Bobbitt had managed to inject a bit of life into his writing style – it feels more like a school lecture.

Commute: Heavy Traffic Available for: IOS, Android Price: Free Rating: ★★★★

DESPERATELY tricky to control, but that’s the point of this game, as it aims to make driving in traffic more exciting. Cute, slick graphics and funny dialogues add to the appeal of Heavy Traffic, and while there are some ads, they’re not intrusive. Frustrating yet brilliant, it could certainly liven up a real commute – if you’re not driving, of course…
