Campaign day cuts road death figures

-

A DEDICATED day aimed at reducing road deaths across Europe saw a 39 per cent fall in fatalities.

Project EDWARD (European Day Without A Road Death) took place on 21 September, with awareness campaigns and safety pledges made across the continent. In total there were 43 deaths across 31 countries, compared with 70 on the same day in 2015. A total of 19 countries recorded zero fatalities on the day, compared with just 11 in the previous year’s campaign.

IT’S one of the most distinctive shapes around, so even the camouflage can’t hide the fact that Lamborghini is working on an updated version of the Aventador.

Snapped during development testing, these spy shots clearly show a new exhaust system, along with what looks like a pair of reshaped tail-lights and a fresh rear bumper. Tweaked air intakes and a rear diffuser can also be picked out, giving the car an even more extreme look than before.

At the front, a set of new air vents can be seen along with a modified front bumper, although it’s much more subtle than the refreshed tail-end redesign. The Aventador has been around since 2011, so is well overdue some infotainment upgrades: Apple Carplay and Android Auto are likely to be added. We can also expect a small power boost from the car’s 6.5-litre V12, taking it to around 700bhp.
