Extreme Discovery ‘SVX’ 4x4 coming
JAGUAR Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division is planning an all-out off-road version of the new Discovery, Auto Express understands.
Currently the SVO team has only developed luxury and performance-focused versions of JLR products, but SVO boss John Edwards told us at the recent at Geneva Motor Show that it’s looking to expand its portfolio.
“In my mind the SV Discovery will be in between Paris-dakar and Camel Trophy,” he said. “Somewhere in there is a product waiting to get out.” There’s no official word on a name, but the extreme Discovery is expected to carry the SVX badge. It won’t be the first Discovery from the SVO division; the bespoke Project Hero (above) was developed for the Austrian Red Cross to use in search and rescue operations.
Expect lots of extra body cladding for the SVX, as well as spotlights, chunky off-road tyres and a reworked chassis for the best possible mud-plugging ability.
