91. SEAT ARONA

Price £14,000 (est) On sale Late 2017

-

SEAT is to introduce a second SUV this year. The Arona will be based on the all-new Ibiza supermini, and will line up as a rival for the Nissan Juke and Renault Captur, taking its place below the Ateca in SEAT’S range.

It’ll sit on the Ibiza’s MQB platform, and as our exclusive image previews, it will blend that car’s design traits with those of the Ateca. We expect the cabin to be lifted from the Ibiza, with the same dash, centre console and infotainment.

SEAT boss Luca de Meo confirmed the Arona badge at last year’s Paris Motor Show, and the car will also be joined in the range by a large, seven-seat SUV at some point. The Arona should appear first, before going on sale in the winter.

MERCEDES’ mid-sized SUV gets a shot of V8 power later this year in a bid to rival the likes of the Porsche Macan Turbo – and our spies have caught the car on test. The V8 is the C 63’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo, so there should be a 476bhp standard model and a 510bhp S.

To handle the extra power, the suspension and brakes will be beefed up. 4MATIC four-wheel drive will be standard, and there will also be an AMG GLC Coupé.
