NOTHING lasts forever, and while the elegant Aston Martin Vantage seems to have been around for an age, it’s due for replacement this year. It will use the first fruits of the brand’s tie-up with Mercedes, because it will get an Amg-tuned V8, and there will be coupé and roadster models. Our exclusive image shows an evolutionary design, as with other Astons, with cues from models like the Vulcan. IT may seem as though the Duster has only been on sale for five minutes, but by the time the all-new model arrives in showrooms later this year, it will be an eightyear-old design. That’s a long time in the car world, and the next Duster will benefit from parent company Renault’s new-found success in the crossover sector.

It’s likely to feature plenty of tech from other models to help keep the value price tag in check, while Dacia is rumoured to be following up the standard car with a sevenseat Grand Duster, as previewed by our exclusive image.

WITH the Mustang now being sold across the globe, the next step for Ford’s legendary muscle car is to introduce hybrid technology, and that’s exactly what is expected to happen in 2020.

Ford has said the non-plug in hybrid will “deliver V8 power”, but whether that means the car will still use a V8 remains to be seen. Packaging issues could ultimately prevent it.

THE Insignia Grand Sport (driven on Page 26) is Vauxhall’s attempt to push further upmarket into aspirational four-door coupé territory, transforming the current car into a plusher offering to take on the Skoda Superb.

Inheriting plenty of design cues from 2013’s Monza concept, the Insignia Grand Sport is a much bolder design than the model it replaces, with a longer wheelbase and shorter overhangs.

It’s available in two bodystyles as well – the Sport Tourer estate (Page 50) will hit showrooms not long after the Grand Sport goes on sale. In the cabin, Vauxhall promises more space thanks to that longer wheelbase, and the seats have been placed lower, too, so the rakish roofline doesn’t affect headroom.

There’s a newly placed emphasis on class in the cabin, and the dashboard has been simplified with new infotainment as well. A huge selection of trim levels is offered, while a mix of 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engines lines up alongside a selection of 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre turbodiesels.
