LEXUS’S answer to the BMW 7 Series has undergone a thorough revamp ahead of its UK launch early next year.

The new LS is based on an extended version of the GA-L platform that underpins the company’s swooping LC coupé, and has been stretched in every direction over the previous-generation model. It’s also an impressive 90kg lighter, despite being a larger car.

Two versions will be available: the LS 500h combines a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine with two electric motors, while the LC 500 uses a 409bhp 3.5-litre V6.
