NEXT year, Volkswagen won’t just launch an all-new Polo (Page 48); later in 2018, it will also introduce an SUV based on the supermini, as a rival to the big-selling Nissan Juke.

Our exclusive image previews how the newcomer will get a more radical look than the Polo itself, although we can expect the usual raised ride height and chunky styling cues that are common to the crossover class.

As with other small SUVS, only the top-spec cars are likely to come with four-wheel drive, if at all – but then, that hasn’t stopped rivals from being a sales success.
