THE facelifted S-class has been caught on test by our spies ahead of its launch in the summer, and will get subtle styling revisions over the current car. But under the skin it’ll continue to be Mercedes’ tech showcase.

A new high-voltage electrical system aims to boost efficiency, and new engines include a detuned version of the AMG S 63’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8. Also coming is a 402bhp twin-turbo straight-six that’s said to be 15 per cent more efficient than the petrol V6 it replaces.
