NOT many new car launches make headlines in the mainstream press, but that’s exactly what happened when Tesla unveiled its BMW 3 Series rival.

The Model 3 is still a little way from production. But while the electric saloon won’t get the benefits of free charging when it eventually does arrive – unlike earlier offerings from Tesla – it will feature the same advanced autonomous driving technology. And the car’s minimalist design inside and out means it should feel just as futuristic to drive as the rest of the range.
