TORO Rosso was the star of launch season with its beautifully proportioned and attractively liveried new car, but whether that will translate to a competitive showing in the frantic midfield battle remains to be seen. In common with the ‘senior’ Red Bull team, the Faenza-based squad was hamstrung by Renault engine problems in testing – and actually turned the second-fewest number of laps after Mclaren. It at least has a stable driver line-up to fall back on, including the overachieving Sainz Jr, who’s due for his chance at a top team sooner rather than later.
