NEW team Haas exceeded all expectations with its 29-point haul from 2016, but now faces the double challenge of the ‘difficult second album’ syndrome and the greatly revamped technical rules for 2017. The headline problem for the team in testing was brakes, with Romain Grosjean in particular unhappy with a lack of consistency from the Brembo pads. The squad hopes to test new Carbon Industrie parts at the post-bahrain Grand Prix session, but in the meantime says it’s working hard with Brembo to find a solution to its issues.
