Q How to revive light leather

I’VE got beige leather upholstery in my car, and I noticed that the driver’s seat now has a blue hue. My mate says this is the dye rubbing off from my jeans. Is he right? And how do I fix it? Damon Robson, E-mail A DENIM can leave blue stains on light-coloured leather, particularly when they are new and freshly dyed. First, try soapy water and a microfibre cloth to shift it. You might need a light abrasive brush, but take care not to soak the leather. If this doesn’t work, try our test winner Dodo Juice Supernatural Leather Cleaner.

Q Range Rover roar remedy

I REALLY love my 2014 Range Rover, but I can’t help feeling that the road noise is excessive. It really irritates over some surfaces. Can you recommend a solution? Rob Griffiths, E-mail A WE’VE not tested any tyre close to Range Rover size, so have no data to help. However, we did run a long-term Range Rover Sport that we fitted with tyres that had sound deadening material inside: It had a dramatic effect on road noise. Sizes are limited, but check out designs from Continental and Hankook.

Q Cloudy lenses cleared up

THE headlights on my car have gone opaque. I’ve got a few paint colour restorers and compounds – could I use them to remove the fog, rather than buy a separate kit? Barry Cumberbatch, E-mail A MOST headlight restoration kits work much like paint treatments, with successive grades of compound or sandpaper. We’ve used scratch repair and cutting compounds with decent results on headlights, but first feel for a rough surface to ensure the deterioration is external. If it’s on the inside you can’t polish it out.
