A MULTITOOL is one of the best glovebox accessories. They cut, grip, turn fasteners and incorporate other handy features that can prove crucial when you’re stuck on the roadside.

Our previous winner, Gerber, recently introduced the Centre Drive, which is filled with new features. To find out how well it fares, we pitted it against the Victorinox Swisstool X, which was highly praised in our group test (Issue 1,436). We looked for high-quality tools and easyto-use ergonomics over various cutting, screw-turning and gripping tests. Locking tools were essential, while gadget count determined value. Price was a factor, too.

Gerber continues to impress. The Centre Drive packs fewer tools than the Victorinox, but it’s easier to use and has all the essentials that one might need around the house or on the roadside.
