THE budget arm of Renault takes last place in 2017’s manufacturers’ survey. Drivers find Dacia’s engines quite loud and uninspiring, while they tell us the cars’ ride could be improved, too, and give the brand a low overall ranking in the engine and gearbox category.
Inside, owners say the fit and finish of materials in their models could be better, and the seats more comfortable – although visibility is rated highly.
With no small city cars in its lineup, Dacia is ranked reasonably well for practicality; owners tell us they’re very impressed by the amount of boot space in their vehicles. If the company can come up with some better storage solutions around the rest of its cars, it will surely score higher than the 18th place it achieved for practicality in this year’s survey.
But Dacia is a budget brand, and can remain happy that owners rate it eighth for running costs. Fuel economy is ranked second in the entire survey, while drivers say their cars are generally cheap to insure and tax.
