HONDA can attribute its 16th place finish to excellent ratings across a number of categories. The car maker ranked seventh for interior and comfort, with owners praising rear legroom as well as styling.
An even better fourth place for practicality was a highlight for the Japanese company this year. Honda’s Magic Seats are clearly a favourite, with owners praising seat flexibility, boot space and interior storage options.
But the diesel and petrol motors failed to impress, with the brand finishing near the bottom in the engine and gearbox category, while an equally poor score for ride and handling – down to harsh suspension and a lack of braking responsiveness – put Honda on the back foot.
If it weren’t for good results in safety and running costs, the firm would have finished further down the rankings. While there are areas Honda has clearly mastered, there are also categories bosses need to dedicate more resources and time to.
