AUDI would have finished far higher in this year’s survey were it not for a low 24th place in practicality, where owners criticised interior storage and boot space. A 23rd place in the safety category didn’t help, either.
Elsewhere, the manufacturer was ranked better. It was 11th in the engine and gearbox class, a result that’s down to the excellent power and refinement the diesel and petrol line-up offers, with transmissions praised, too.
Inside, owners were happy with seat comfort and styling, scoring the brand 15th overall. But rear legroom was marked down. Audi has made some real strides in interior tech over the past few years, bringing kit such as the Virtual Cockpit to its new cars. This has clearly helped, because the brand was 13th in this category.
Ride and handling was another area Audi did well in, but owners want better feel from the steering in the future. Reliability and build quality was ranked 17th, with drivers rating the former above the latter.
