DESPITE having the highest share of owners report a fault, Jaguar doesn’t finish last this year for reliability. But 24th place in the class isn’t something to consider a ‘job well done’.

Infotainment is another area where the British brand scored poorly; 21st place here reflects low marks drivers have given for their sat-navs and their touchscreens’ responses. Where the maker excels is in handling, scoring a strong fourth place for the category.

Buyers said their Jaguars have a smooth ride, accurate steering and an involving drive – important feedback for a firm that competes directly against the likes of BMW, Audi and Mercedes. This is made all the better with a fifth place in the engine category, with owners happy about their cars’ acceleration and gearbox smoothness.

To claim a higher place, Jaguar needs to make its engines slightly quieter and more refined, according to the feedback. Owners are happy with the interior styling and seat comfort, but fit and finish needs improving.
