It was rated second in the engine and gearbox category, with owners very happy about the acceleration of their cars. Drivers were equally satisfied with MINI’S design efforts, scoring the firm highly for exterior styling.
It earns another second place in the ride and handling category, after buyers rated its cars the most pleasurable to drive in the survey. A smoother ride quality would have helped MINI secure the top spot in the category. A disappointment for bosses this year was running costs, where the brand scored 14th overall, suggesting that while its cars are great to drive, they could be more fuel efficient.
Buyers also found MINIS more expensive than they’d like to tax and insure, plus servicing rates could be improved by the dealer network.
