5. Mazda

MAZDA’S fifth place is a result of strong scores in nearly every single category, reflecting the fact that owners are on average very happy with all aspects of their cars.
One of the few areas where it falls outside the top 10 rankings is practicality and boot space, where it came 12th. This is largely down to drivers wanting more luggage capacity in their cars, while interior storage options are also criticised.
Infotainment is another area where Mazda ranked 12th. Buyers pointed out that while things such as air-con and the touchscreen responses are good, the built-in sat-nav in their cars needs to be improved. Where the brand impresses is on safety and reliability, finishing fourth in both categories. It was fifth for running costs, and would have been higher if Mazda’s engines were slightly less thirsty on fuel.
Owners also felt that the engines could deliver better acceleration in the future, after the firm ranked ninth in the engine and gearbox category.
