Digital handbook dilemma

I RECENTLY bought a second-hand Mercedes and was told it has a digital handbook. The car is out of warranty and I don’t want to service it at a main dealer, but how can the handbook be updated by an independent garage? Brian Cochran, E-mail ACCORDING to the Independent Garage Association, independent dealers are able to access and update digital service records for all manufacturers. It’s up to the dealer to get in touch with Mercedes and amend the necessary records.

SEAT starting problem

MY 2006 SEAT Ibiza has struggled to start over the past few days. It always takes a few twists of the key before it fires up, and doesn’t feel normal when running. First, check the battery – old and faulty ones often fail to hold charge. Next up are the injectors, filters and fuel lines. None of these issues is too serious, but best to attend to the problem soon as it will only worsen.

Footwell flood in Fiat

I’VE noticed that the passenger side footwell in my Fiat 500 is starting to accumulate water after heavy bouts of rain. What can I do to resolve this? Janett Davies, E-mail IT could be that the seals on the door are worn and in need of replacement. Check these carefully, and have them replaced if necessary. It’s also a good idea to inspect the drainage holes around the footwell; a blockage may cause water to accumulate.
