Screwdriver set

Which is top for spinning fasteners and tougher jobs?

- Kärcher K4 Full Control Home

OF all your tools, screwdrivers are most likely to need replacing. While spanners or socket sets get used for the jobs they were intended to do, drivers often double as chisels, pry bars and punches, on top of spinning fasteners. Buying a set is a cost-effective way to ensure you have a good range for screws and small bolts. To find the best we rated comfort by seeing which let us apply the most force on increasingly tight screws. We wanted the common car fasteners to be covered, plus slim shafts to aid access in tight spots. Magnetic tips earned points, as did a storage case. Price per tool was also factored in.

IT may be the Full Control system that takes the eye – with the LED display on the lance showing you the correct pressure for the job being tackled – but while it’s handy, that’s not why this pressure washer takes the win. It’s a fundamentally good cleaner which stood out in our test. The design works well, with simple storage on the back of the unit and a telescopic handle for easy storage. This home version means you also get a rotary patio cleaner alongside the usual blaster and variable lances.

REMARKABLY,REM this compact Sealey still showed 100 per cent ch charge on its easy-to-read digital display after our five start att attempts. The 8,000mah power pack has some serious grunt, whi which would be good for several smartphone recharges. We al also liked the long 42cm leads, as these give more scope to pl place the unit safely under the bonnet, plus there were tw two USB sockets – one capable of charging at a higher 2.1 2.1A rate. In addition there’s an LED torch for nighttim time breakdowns. A winning combination of power and features at a competitive price seals the win.

YOU can top up your tyres and your phone with this Michelin inflator. The DPS bit refers to the Digital Power Source, as it has USB and 12V outlets. The essentials haven’t been ignored, though, as it added 10psi in two minutes and it was the only one on test with an accurate gauge. Hose storage could be better, but this inflator’s biggest problem is its price.
