Alonso to enter Daytona 24 Hours
FERNANDO Alonso will make his sportscar racing debut at January’s Daytona 24 Hours, driving for the Anglo-american United Autosports team. The Spaniard, who branched out from Formula One this year with a run at the Indy 500, is also eyeing a Le Mans entry in the near future and is keen to get endurance racing experience.
Alonso said: “Learning a new category, adapting to a different car and to another style of driving is a new challenge for me and I can’t wait to test myself again.”
He will share the team’s Ligier with Brits Lando Norris and Phil Hanson, the reigning FIA European Formula 3 and Asian Le Mans Series champions respectively.
