Manor steps up to LMP1 in WEC
BRITISH team Manor Racing is stepping up to the top class of the World Endurance Championship (WEC) for its 2018-19 ‘super season’, running a single Ginetta LMP1 car in conjunction with Chinese squad TRS.
Manor joins an as-yet-unnamed team in choosing the Ginetta for next year’s WEC, along with expected entries from the German Bykolles and Russian SMP Racing organisations. Drivers and an engine partner for the Manor effort will be announced in due course, while the squad will also continue running in LMP2.
Toyota could also continue competing in LMP1 in 2018-19. However, the Japanese manufacturer has yet to confirm its return, despite strong hints from executives at last month’s Tokyo Motor Show that it would.
