HYUNDAI TUCSON

Auto Express - - Winter Driving Special -

LOOKING much like a shrunken Santa Fe, the Tucson is a practical alternative choice in the compact SUV market, with a big boot and decent rear seat space. It’s not the most thrilling car to drive, but the engine range is competent, and all models are solidly put together and generously equipped as standard.

As with most rivals, 4WD is only offered on the more powerful 2.0 CRDI diesels and with an automatic box, but that does mean hill descent control is included.

Price range: £19,855-£33,600 Our pick: 2.0 CRDI 136PS 4WD auto SE Nav (£28,545) Engine: 2.0-litre 4cyl diesel, 134bhp Transmission: 6-spd auto, permanent 4WD Top speed: 114mph Economy: 47.1mpg CO2: 156g/km
