Bmw 335i touring
FOR: Sharp handling, surprising comfort AGAINST: S4 is a bit quicker, hard to find one
BMW has a reputation for cars with driver appeal, but the powerful 335i is rather hard to come by.
Its turbocharged V6 delivers 302bhp – about the same as the Golf and less than the S4 – but it’s the smooth engine response that impresses more. The handling is more involving than the Audi’s, too, while ride comfort and refinement are also superior. We found a 335i Touring M Sport from 2014 with 35,000 miles for £23,900. THE cabin of the 335i is no different from any 3 Series, so it’s easy to operate, comes with plenty of tech and is pretty well screwed together. Rear space is decent, while the 495-litre boot is usable for families. OUR latest Driver Power survey saw the 3 Series rank in 37th place, and given its popularity it should prove reliable; a mere 7.6 per cent of drivers told us of faults. Again, make sure its service record is intact.
