MK1 XC90S are now below £3,000; some even dip under £2,000. There are plenty of high-mileage cars about, but shopping around can get a 70,000-mile D5 SE Geartronic for £6,000. Manual XC90S are rare but are cheaper than autos, although clutches can wear on cars used for towing.

Petrol XC90S are also rare, but 2.9-litre models are priced from £3,000 and 3.2s from £7,000, while V8s are available from £8,000. The newest Executive or R-design Mk1 XC90S are valued at £25,000 or so with 30,000 miles on the clock, while SE Lux cars are a little less.
