FROM: Stephen Hawkins SMART motorways are the biggest oxymoron going, as the lack of a hard shoulder means when people break down there is nowhere for them to pull over to. It doesn’t help that traffic officers seem so keen to close lanes, either. FROM: Jay Smith THE number of drivers who use closed lanes with a red ‘X’ above them is a big safety issue. People who do this should be fined and receive points on their licence. Surely speed cameras could be adapted to monitor this?
