QGTI is missing foglights
I BOUGHT a new Volkswagen Golf GTI last May, but have realised it isn’t fitted with the front foglights I ordered. The dealer has offered me £500 in compensation; is this fair, or should I reject the car? David Holland, E-mail
AYOU could try rejecting it under the Consumer Rights Act for not being ‘as described’, but this is a time-consuming process; the dealer is also likely to offer you less than you paid for the car to reflect the use you’ve had from it. A £500 goodwill gesture seems fair.
QInsurer won’t cover me
AS I only use my sports car during the summer, I declare it off the road via a SORN application when it’s garaged. My insurer has told me it will only cover me if the car is taxed, though. Can it do this? Jim Whitehouse, E-mail
ATHE Association of British Insurers told us some insurers may not want to cover cars that are left unattended for long periods, and are within their rights to do so. But many providers offer ‘laid-up’ policies, which should provide the cover you seek.
