ACCESSORY specialist Sakura has leapt into the fast-growing mini jump starter market with this new 7500mah unit. As with rival products in this sector, it can also be used as a power bank to revive mobile phones, tablets and the like.

Sakura says the lithium-ion polymer battery is powerful enough to start petrol engines of up to 3.5 litres or diesels with a maximum capacity of 2.0 litres, and it comes with low-resistance pure copper cables to maximise power.

Peak power is 400Amp with a 200Amp starting current, there’s built-in circuit protection in case a wrong connection is made and it’s said to be drop-proof from a metre.

For charging electronic kit there is a 2.1Amp USB socket, which has a protective cover when it’s not in use to keep dust and moisture out.

Charging is handled by the supplied USB lead, which can be used in any suitable socket in the car or at home, although no USB or mains adaptor is provided. Sakura says on a 2Amp charge the unit should take three-and-a-half hours to fully revive from empty. LEDS on the casing show the level of charge.

There is also a torch that features a strobe function. Unlike many rivals, the Sakura comes in a tough, zipped case, making it a neat solution for storing in the boot or glovebox, without having to struggle to keep all the parts together.
