e-tron’s growth plan
Here’s how Audi’s EV range should shape up over next three years
e-tron Sportback 2020
KEEN to get as many sales out of the electric MLB platform as possible, Audi will launch an even more style-focused edition of the e-tron soon after the SUV.
A8 e-tron 2019
THE latest A8 already carries a lot of mild-hybrid 48-volt tech – but to earn the e-tron badge the A8 will get a plug-in powertrain based on a V6 petrol engine.
A7 e-tron 2019
ANYWHERE the A8 goes its style-focused sister will follow, so there should be a plug-in petrol-electric hybrid version of the A7 in dealers by next year.
A6L e-tron Now
ELECTRIFIED cars are big business in China, so Audi is already taking orders for a plug-in hybrid version of the longer A6 that it sells there. It won’t come to Europe, though.
e-tron 2018
AUDI’S first fully electric car will be this coupé-suv. It’s based on the MLB platform and has a range of around 300 miles – and it should reach showrooms before the end of this year.
Q8 e-tron 2019
FORTHCOMING SUV flagship will get diesel power as standard, with mild-hybrid tech. But a plug-in hybrid version with e-tron badging is also in the pipeline.
Q5 e-tron 2018
PLUG-IN hybrid Q5 is due later this year. It’ll mix turbo petrol power with an electric motor on the rear axle, and travel about 30 miles on electricity alone.
Q7 e-tron Now
THE first SUV to carry e-tron badging has been quietly notching up sales, even though its plug-in hybrid tech is based on unloved diesel power.
A3 e-tron Now
AUDI’S hybrid hatchback was the first to carry the e-tron name into production, and it continues to make sales gains amid the backlash against diesel engines.
