Ferrari’s plug-in hybrid V8 gets ready to roar
FERRARI has finally been spotted testing its upcoming plug-in hybrid V8 powertrain. Boss Sergio Marchionne confirmed the set-up at the Geneva Motor Show last month, and it’s likely to power the firm’s forthcoming SUV – previewed in our exclusive image (below).
Marchionne said the hybrid would arrive in 2019, and an online video has now offered a brief glimpse of a 488 Gtb-based mule driving solely on electric power. It’ll be the brand’s first series production hybrid after the limited-run Laferrari hypercar. Go to www.autoexpress.co.uk to see the new car testing.
