Peugeot’s performance in our Driver Power owner survey wasn’t quite as good as Toyota’s, but it wasn’t far off. Both the 208 and Yaris get a full five-star Euro NCAP crash test rating.

SAFETY

Upgraded brakes and sticky tyres feature on both cars, while the 208 also has six airbags. Autonomous braking is £250 extra; it’s standard on the Toyota.
