Tamiya radio-controlled cars lead round-up of latest products

JUST as the weather shows some signs of improving, Tamiya has revealed a broad new range of radio-controlled cars to let you make the most of it.

For rally fans, there’s the £225 Lancia 037 Rally, whose mid-engine, rear-drive layout bucked the eighties trend of 4WD Group B machinery. However, Tamiya’s model gets 4WD as it uses the short version of the firm’s TA-02 chassis.

If your rally tastes are more modern, then there’s the £199.99 limited-edition,tion, re-release Subaru Impreza in its 2004 Rally of Mexico livery. It sits on the 4WD TT-01 Type E chassis with shaft drive and double-wishbone suspension.

For off-road drivers, there’s King Yellowlow – a six-wheel-drive monster truck withth a US school bus body. It’s the second in a series led by Kong Head (Issue 1,488),), and costs £275. Dirt racers will like thehe £225 Neo Fighter Buggy Chrome Green on the new DT-03 chassis, which is designedgn­ed to encourage newcomers into the hobby.by.

Racers will enjoy the £199.99 NSU Prinz in Jägermeist­er colours which uses the M-05 front-wheel-drive chassis.sis. The same chassis is under the £199.999 Citroen 2CV Charleston. This replicates the FWD of the original, although the body roll is likely to be much reduced. The final new arrival is the funky £119.99 Dancing Riderder trike. Watch it lean as it turns.urns.

All the prices quotedted are for the models only – you’ll need to add radio gear, a battery and a charger to get them going.

ANYONE who has ever driven a pick-up truck will know that keeping everything from sliding around in the bed is a major challenge. Truckman is offering a solution to frustrated UK pick-up users in the form of its innovative Decked system.

Sitting in the bed, Decked has two slide-out drawers to stop tools and gear moving around and allow easy access to kit stored at the front of the load bay. Dividers and toolboxes can be added, and there are two storage bins for small items.

The Decked system is compatible with most popular pick-ups including the Nissan Navara, Toyota Hilux, Volkswagen Amarok, Ford Ranger and Mitsubishi L200.
