Self-learning tech sets up Jag E-pace

-

JAGUAR has introduced new selflearning tech to its E-pace SUV, alongside a new petrol option.

The learning algorithm (below), called ‘Smart Settings’, takes location, time, weather and driving patterns into account, then applies the settings to optimise the car’s set-up automatically.

Elsewhere, the E-pace is now available with a 197bhp 2.0-litre petrol engine. Adaptive dampers are also offered. Prices for the new petrol version start at £33,260.

THE 2018 Mercedes GLE has been testing again, but this time our eagle-eyed snappers have caught it almost completely undisguised. The BMW X5 rival is expected to make its debut at the Los Angeles Motor Show in November.

From the new images, we can see the front end will take inspiration from the likes of the latest CLS and A-class (tested on Page 36), with sharper headlamp units and a reshaped grille.

The mule shows the new rear, too, and while the distinctive C-pillar and wraparound-effect back window are carried over, the roofline looks lower than on the current GLE. The tail-lights are slimmer, and are expected to feature LED tech.

We’ve seen the GLE’S interior already – albeit under heavy disguise – and Mercedes insiders have now confirmed it will feature the latest version of the MBUX infotainment system. First seen on the latest A-class, this will combine a touchscreen with voice commands, and feature the same augmented-reality navigation tech.
