Range of soft roofboxes heads our round-up of the latest gear

Price: From £90 Contact: www.handiworld.com

IF you need a roof box for that family holiday but have nowhere to store it the rest of the year, the latest additions to the Handiworld line-up could be the answer.

The company is best known for its inflatable roof rack systems, and has launched three soft roof boxes which fold flat when not in use for easy storage.

They can be used with Handiracks or conventional roof bars and come with 85cm black fastening belts fitted with plastic clips. Included in the package are glass fibre support poles to help when loading and unpacking, creating a solid base. The bags are weather resistant with welded seams on the tough PVC tarpaulin, plus there’s a storm flap using dry bag technology.

Top of the new range is the Handiholdall 400, which costs £155. As the name suggests it has a 400-litre capacity and can hold 50kg. The 330litre version, at £90, is water resistant and can also take up to 50kg.

The final newcomer is the Handiholdall 175, which has been designed with cyclists in mind as it is just 40cm wide. This leaves space for a cycle rack alongside on conventional roof bars. It costs £120.

Also new to the Handiworld range are the Boot Tidy (£25), Back Seat Tidy (£10) and the Dog Seat Cover (£25).

Price: £25.38 Rating: ★★★★★ Pad diameter (mm): 240 Motor: 110W W Contact: 01935 382222, www.silverlinetools.com

SILVERLINE’S polisher comes supplied plied with two pads: one terry cloth and d one synthetic wool. The former was thinner than we would have liked, ed, but it was tied with a cord, which made fitting much easier than the strongly elasticated pads.

We felt the 3.7m power cable length ength was mean, but the three-year warranty arranty wasn’t stingy. The fixed handle nearly early surrounded the motor and the on/n/off switch was sensibly placed for easese of use. And while the unit vibrated a bit in use, it’s a good price, and this gave it an edge over the Halfords product. uct.
