Loeb VWS face rebuild battle

-

FORMER World Rally Champion Sebastien Loeb and his WTCR World Touring Car Cup team face a race against time to make the grid for this weekend’s Slovakian round.

The team’s two Volkswagen Golf TCR racers, driven by Brit Rob Huff and Mehdi Bennani of Morocco, caused a multi-car pile-up last time out in Vila Real, Portugal, and the team is working around the clock to rebuild the cars from the ground up for the East European event.

“Portugal turned into a nightmare,” said team boss Dominique Heintz. “But both our drivers were okay. We missed out on a weekend in which we should have scored a great result, but now the team is motivated to tackle Slovakia.

“It’s rare to have two cars destroyed in the same race. Now we have no choice but to work hard to present two new cars that meet our standard of quality and get back to our usual top-class level.”
