DEPENDING on whom you believe, Project Titan – Apple’s bid to enter the autonomous vehicle market – is on the backburner, killed off altogether or gathering pace. What’s still clear is that Briton Chris Porritt, formerly of Aston Martin and Tesla, remains a key member of the team in California. The smart money seems to be on Apple licensing self-driving software instead of building a car outright – but even that would still represent a huge shake-up for the industry and cement Porritt’s place at the top of the autonomous engineering tree.
