Ex-ferrari team chief Ross Brawn is now over a year into his task of reinvigorating Formula One – potentially making it easier for his employer to sell the ‘show’ it bought in 2017. There have been a few media gains – not least a subscription web streaming service. But Brawn is now embroiled in the battle to decouple the teams’ self-interest from the need to make F1 more affordable and competitive. Delivering more natural overtaking on track and a cost cap off it will match anything he achieved as a team boss.
