RED Bull may not be quite at the level of Mercedes and Ferrari in F1, but it’s remained close enough with a Renault engine to maintain Adrian Newey’s position as the sport’s top technical whizz. We’ll find out in 2019 what he can do with Merc power. Truth be told, over the past year Newey’s scope of interest has widened. He’s heavily involved in the Valkyrie hypercar project with Aston Martin and also put his name to a revealing ghost-written autobiography that hit the shelves to widespread acclaim before Christmas.
