CLEARLY seen by Ford’s top brass as one of the ‘go-to’ project leaders, Darren Palmer has a list of hits behind him; he followed up the Ka+ with the current Fiesta and, most recently, the all-new Focus. But he has already moved on; he’s now in the States, in charge of engineering the electric vehicles within Ford’s ‘Team Edison’, delivering the fruits of an $11bn (£8.3bn) investment by the US giant as it strives to deliver 40 hybrid and pure-electric vehicles by 2022.
