GERRY Mcgovern has done little wrong to merit his slip out of our Brit List top 10. But it feels like he has paused for breath after a hectic period that started with the Evoque and included the Discovery Sport, Discovery and Velar. The Range Rover SV Coupé showed how high his team can pitch the brand. The Evoque is due a nip and a tuck, but the real fascination will be with how he fills the blanks on his ‘three-family’ Land Rover tree. There’s scope for an even smaller Range Rover and one family is empty altogether: the Defender.
