THE 2018 Formula One season is proving pretty horrendous for Williams, with its two drivers struggling at the back of the field. But Mike O’driscoll’s brief extends beyond the F1 circus to encompass the firm’s engineering efforts. Williams is at the head of the grid here; it was developing alternative powertrains long before it was trendy, and it’s paying off. Williams is working with Airbus on its highaltitude drones, and will supply batteries when World Rallycross switches to EVS in 2020.
