Honda CONNECT Standard Key features: Nav, Carplay, Android Auto

IF you want built-in sat-nav in your Civic Type R, you’ll have to go for this GT version. However, the standard car gets Apple Carplay and Android Auto, too, while both models feature the same seven-inch touchscreen.

As with the Renault, the graphics could be sharper, plus the internet radio app and browsing functions aren’t that easy to use. This is a theme, because the menu structure isn’t the simplest and routine tasks such as selecting a radio station can be frustrating.

It means there’s an argument to use the smartphone connectivity programmes all the time, because the Honda’s integrated system isn’t the slickest.

Still, wireless charging is included, while you get two USB sockets in case your phone doesn’t support this. It’s worth bearing in mind the climate controls are split between physical dials and buttons plus the screen, too, which can prove irritating to use.

Screen Climate control is operated via the display and physical buttons, while sat-nav is only included on GT cars. Menu layout is muddled and frustrating in use
