ELSEWHERE at Pebble Beach, Bugatti pulled the wraps off the Divo.

The limited-run hypercar is based on the marque’s Chiron. Only 40 examples will be produced and all of them have been sold, at five million Euros each.

Named after French racing driver Albert Divo, the car is said by Bugatti to have been built to celebrate the company’s “coachbuilding tradition”.

It features bespoke bodywork and has a focus on aerodynamics; the Divo gets a totally new front end, gaping air intakes and slim LED lights.

There’s an “optimised air curtain” and a new, wider front spoiler, which help the Divo develop an additional 90kg of downforce over the Chiron. The Divo shares the Chiron’s 1,479bhp quad-turbo 8.0-litre W16 engine, as well as the same seven-speed DSG gearbox and four-wheel-drive system.

The manufacturer says the Divo will blast from 0-62mph in 2.4 seconds and hit 236mph flat out.

Bugatti claims the chassis and suspension have also been tweaked in a bid to make it more agile; the Divo is said to be capable of pulling 1.6G of lateral acceleration. The lightweight wheels, carbon-fibre intercooler cover and reduced use of sound insulation allow a 35kg weight saving.

Inside, the Divo gets a matt carbonfibre dash, with Divo Grey Alcantara seats, which are claimed to offer more lateral support. Larger armrests and calf supports aim to improve comfort.
