Amundsen Sat Nav Standard Key features: Nav, smartphone tech
THE Skoda’s infotainment set-up is the most sophisticated of this trio. It has all the functionality of its rivals with a bigger screen and sharper graphics. The glossy finish looks great, but, in practice, bright light can make it difficult to read in some situations.
However, this is about the limit of its drawbacks. Otherwise, the system responds to your inputs quickly and is easy to navigate around. There’s lots of functionality, too: sat-nav is standard, along with Apple Carplay and Android Auto. You also get a one-year subscription to Skoda’s connected services.
There are no physical buttons, but the touch-sensitive keys around the edge of the screen let you jump to the most important areas. Separating the climate controls with physical dials and buttons below the screen – like in the Hyundai – gives both cars an edge over the 3008 here when it comes to functionality and ease of use.
Infotainment Skoda’s set-up is well equipped, with nav and DAB, and benefits from a brighter screen than its rivals. Glossy finish is the only real downside
FOR AND AGAINST
Bright touchscreen, great graphics, simple menus and lots of kit Sometimes difficult to see screen due to its glossy finish, that’s about it
