GT racing provides some of the most exciting track action across the globe, combining close competition with raceprepped road cars. And just in time for the festive season, you can recreate those thrills and spills in your own living room.

The new Scalextric World GT set pits Le Mans winner Ford and its GT GTE against frontrunner Mercedes-AMG around a circuit that’s almost seven metres long. Suitable for driving fans from five years old, the models are digital-plug ready for racing with up to six cars at the same time, with easy-change pick-ups and magnatraction to maximise grip.

The 1:32-scale set also features wireless hand controllers that allow racers to roam around the track, rather than stay close to the power supply. The controllers also vibrate to add to the realism.

The World GT set comes equipped with the mid-range ARC (App Race Control) AIR system. This works with the wireless controllers and an app downloaded to a smartphone or tablet, which connects to the track via Bluetooth.

This AIR version allows racers to choose between eight race types, including grand prix, endurance and drag race, plus a range of conditions. These include fuel use, tyre wear and KERS, along with variable weather, yellow flags and start types. For fans of arcade racing, power-ups can be gained.
