CHILD transportation specialist Cybex has upgraded the safety measures on its range of Group 2-3 car seats. While your child’s size will determine which seat they must use, they are designed for children aged from around three to 12 years old.

The Solution Z and Solution S i-Fix seats meet the latest UN R129/03 safety standards, which require stricter testing methods for side-impact protection, plus simplified installation in the car.

As a result, the two seats now have an improved Linear Side-impact Protection Plus system. This, when combined with the seats’ energy-absorbing shell, reduces the forces on the child when a car is hit by around 25 per cent.

Both seats retain the three-position reclining headrest. This stops a child’s head tipping forwards when sleeping, keeping it within the safety zone.

The seats are designed to cope with a wide range of sizes, and can grow with the child thanks to a 12-position height-adjustable headrest which can be moved one-handed. There’s also Isofix installation to cut the risk of incorrect fitting, while the back reclines to match the rear seat in whichever car it’s installed. The base has a deep, wide cushion with an air ventilation system for comfort.

Both seats went on sale last month, with the Solution S starting at £159.95. The Solution Z is priced from £189.95 and comes in seven colours. The stylish Plus fabrics are available from £214.95.
