The road back

Your article about the expected Road Rover range (News, 20 September) reminded me of my thoughts about the Range Rover, when it first appeared in a showroom in Quay Street, Manchester, near to where I worked.

When I first saw it in that showroom, I thought ‘this looks like a nice, comfortable and roomy car, so why are they complicating it with four-wheel drive and an oversized engine?’. Roderick W Ramage
