TARGA THE HOTTER: GREAT FERRARIS WITH LIDS

-

Dino 246 GTS

The Dino was Ferrari’s most popular model in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and in 1972 the car maker looked to expand that appeal with the Targa-style GTS. It was Ferrari’s first production car with a removable roof panel and proved successful.

Ferrari F50

The F50 was every inch the serious hypercar of the mid1990s, with a 4.7-litre V12 and carbonfibre tub. The successor to the F40 divided opinions at launch, but the Targa-style roof was unique among rivals and allowed the top to be taken off without any effect on rigidity.

Ferrari 308 GTS

The 308 GTS was an icon of the 1980s thanks to its appearance in the hit TV show Magnum PI. The Targastyle top could be stored behind the rear seats and the chassis was reinforced to ensure it drove as well as the hard-top variant.
