Dundonald Links collects big award

-

DUNDONALD Links is celebrating following success for its accommodation at the Scottish Golf Tourism Awards.

The course - which sits between Irvine and Troon - was named the winner in the Best Premium Hotel 4 Star Equivalent category at a lavish ceremony at Culloden Battlefield Visitor Centre on March 21.

The resort received recognition for its innovative accommodation, which was unveiled alongside a new clubhouse in 2021.

Guests can choose between a collection of two, four and six-bedroom lodges designed specifically for golfers, with spacious putting greens outside and hotel-style one-bedroom pods.

All Dundonald accommodation is luxuriously furnished and sleekly designed with sustainability in mind.

Also a finalist for the Best Clubhouse and Best Course awards, Dundonald was one of just three venues to be shortlisted in more than two categories - and the only course in the west of Scotland to achieve the feat.

Vicki Harrison, general manager at Dundonald Links, said: “Since opening our lodges and pods in 2021, we have been inundated with positive reviews and incredible feedback.

“Being recognised at the Scottish Golf Tourism Awards is a real honour and testament to both the success of our investment and the hard work of the team.”

Two decades after Kyle Phillips’ course first opened, Dundonald Links has become a staple of Ayrshire’s world-famous golf coast.

Extensive investment since Darwin Escapes’ takeover in 2019 has led to the opening of the new clubhouse and luxury accommodation.

The accolade is the latest that Dundonald’s collection of lodges and pods has received in recent years and comes less than six months after the resort was crowned Scotland’s Best Golf Hotel at the prestigious World Golf Awards.
